i could get all philosophical about “what it all means” and all that, but far better writers with far prettier words are going to get there or already have gotten there. you don’t need yet another voice to tell you what’s happened; you lived that.
what i AM going to point out is how this simple little wordpress joint you’re on now took about… i’d say twentysomething years to make.

yeah, you heard me right: twentysomething. and yeah, of course the actual coding and writing and such ain’t take no two decades.
you probably already get where i’m even going with this: everything from having enough ideas to “life getting in the way” to just… feeling like “getting out of bed in the morning”…
…before now, i’ve never really had that clear idea of what i want to work on and how i was going to publish it and the thought that i could actually get any of it done. twenty years of a LOT of starts and stops and starts and stops. but i never really stopped writing, or creating, or thought i would ever fully stop. so, you know, there’s that.
i dunno… this is just all to say that i’m an incredibly stubborn arsehole and here’s the result. and by the way: i’m maurice downes, i’m 42, i reside in brooklyn, ny. i’m an software engineer by trade, but i also do writing, take photos, make videos, and… other.
and all that “other” is what this site is for. so, thanks.
so about that, in addition to just random blabbers on this page, this will be where i – every once in a while – talk about what i’m working on.
on that end: i’ve got an article about where we are in this “transition of power” in america… final edits on that… i have two ideas for video podcasts that i’m in the planning stages on; those thingies will be on youtube but get shared here… and i have a lot of photo work i want to get up. stuff that i never really shared anywhere.
anyway, that’s it. i’m going to call it a day, creatively, and get back to watching man united face off against aston villa. thanks for showing some interest in my nonsense. and… i truly, truly hope you have an excellent year and an excellent life.
